Look at the details as well as the whole room

Wide photos show the overall colour and feel. Close views can help you assess the appearance of edges, door frames, skirting and joins between surfaces. A photograph cannot establish every part of the preparation or coating system, so ask what work was involved rather than judging from colour alone.

Compare similar surfaces and conditions

A new plaster wall and an older weatherboard exterior are different jobs. Choose references similar to your property and explain the starting condition in your quote request. Share wide and close-up photos so we can discuss the work as well as the appearance you are aiming for.

Colour inspiration versus an exact match

Lighting, camera settings and screens all influence colour. Use gallery photos and the visualiser to develop a direction, then test physical paint samples in your own space. Ask about the product and sheen as well as the colour name; the finish affects how light reflects off the surface.
